Escuminac, NB E9A 1R3, Canada

On June 19, 1959: a fierce hurricane lashed the Gulf of St. Lawrence, wreaking damage and disaster on the New Brunswick coast. The storm devastated the small port of Escuminac, as 130 km/h winds and 15-meter waves sank 22 fishing boats and drowned 35 men in the deadliest hurricane in Canadian history. The tragedy left 19 widows and 83 fatherless children, a catastrophic loss to a town of just 600 people.

We will be playing at to honour the memory of those lost in this disaster, and to celebrate the community spirit of Northern New Brunswick.

We are always humbled yet proud to play for this important and amazing event. Runners and walkers from across the Maritimes gather on the Moncton Waterfront for the Three Fathers Memorial Run. The funds raised at this event as well as from sponsorships and other fundraising activities are distributed as scholarships for the six high schools served by the Codiac RCMP.

The Three Fathers Memorial Run was established to honour RCMP Constables Douglas Larche, Dave Ross and Fabrice Gevaudan on Father’s Day following their tragic deaths.

Living with mental health challenges is hard but we can come together make a difference. The SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU Run for Women has raised over $3.4 million dollars for local mental health services. Every dollar raised supports mothers, daughters, and friends through the funding of programs that allow women to take that next step to recovery.

The SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU Run for Women is a celebration of the healing power of a loving community. We also celebrate the power of loving ourselves. Research shows that running and walking is as effective as taking medication for mild to moderate depression and anxiety. When we come together to walk or run with friends, we experience that exercise can heal the mind and restore the soul.
